ReviewedRosie is sick of being treated like a kid. She wishes that she could grow up so that adults would take her more seriously! But when Rosie and Kat venture into the forest to find a poorly, time-turning Phoenix, she learns to be careful what you wish for. Time is being reversed and all the enchanted creatures of Starfall Forest are turning into babies. Rosie and Kate find themselves responsible for a hospital full of animals in need … and a whole crowd of cheeky, lovable baby vets!
In this new chapter book series, best friends Cat and Rosie help out at Calico Comfrey’s Veterinary Surgery. But this isn’t just any surgery, Calico Comfrey is a wizard and his vets care for magical creatures. In each of these six volumes, the girls help find and care for the magical creatures who live in the enchanted Starfall forest near their homes. When not helping a unicorn, sea dragon, or baby yeti, among others, Cat and Rosie make new friends, struggle with school work, and work on cultivating their confidence and courage. While not a new concept, this series is fun and well presented, with its own magical system and adorable creatures that will interest young readers who can’t get enough magical stories. VERDICT Recommended for collections where magical animal stories such as “Zoey and Sassafrass” and “Fairy Unicorns” are in demand.
