ReviewedPut down your device and look out the window—there’s a whole world to explore. It’s time to go tech-free on a road trip! This fun guide invites young readers to unplug from the world on screens and explore the world around them with easy-to-follow activities for a trip on the road. Spot plants and animals, investigate landmarks, play games, and more. There’s no limit to what you can do when you use a little imagination.
Readers are encouraged to discover the world around them as they unplug from electronic devices. Each title starts with a table of contents, and vocabulary words are bold throughout the text. Short paragraphs with colorful, captioned photographs and diagrams are used to inform readers. Tips or ideas can be found within the text: “Follow animal tracks in the snow to see where the creatures have gone” (Tech-Free Ac-tivities When It Snows). The end matter includes a glossary of vocabulary words and an index. Although these activities appear simple for adults, some children will find them novel and even whimsical. VERDICT: Quick and easy introductions to non-technology fun in everyday life.
