ReviewedWhether it’s the cycle of seasons or cities and landscapes changing, our world is constantly evolving. Learn all about scientific adaptations of animals and plants and historical changes we see in architecture and landscapes around us. Each book in this fun series offers stark visual comparisons to show how our world changes over time. Each title includes a STEM Take a Look! infographic, sidebars, a glossary, a table of contents, an index, and an activity. Real-life photos help aid the reader in comprehension.
The rapid changes of life and civilization can be a large topic to take on, but readers are introduced to just that across these titles. There are the usual animal changes that one expects, but the inclusions of cities and landscapes add more depth to the overarching theme. Simple sentences encourage independent reading with the colorful pictures filling in additional context between paragraph breaks. Each title concludes with an activity to add a tactile connection to the subjects addressed. VERDICT: A newer take on a well-known topic that would make a welcome addition to public library collections looking to build on popular subjects, such as the seasons, for emerging readers.
