Plesiosaur is part of Jump’s Dinosaur World series.
'Written largely in short, simple sentences, Plesiosaur is aimed at beginning readers who are also beginning their study of nonfiction. Fledgling readers will be able to handle short sentences, such as "It is a water reptile" and "Fish swim," although they may need help with the occasional longer sentence or dinosaur name. The very simple text, often with only two brief sentences per spread, limits the amount of detail about the plesiosaur the book can include. For instructional purposes, the book features a handful of ideas for parents and teachers, plus a table of contents, an index, and a picture glossary. The illustrations combine watery photos with realistic depictions of the gigantic water lizard, as well as a labeled "Parts of a Plesiosaur" diagram.
