Watch an Oak Tree Grow is part of Jump!’s Watch It Grow series.
This series delves into the growth process of common fruits, vegetables, and an oak tree. The process is shown sequentially, providing plenty of visual context and opportunities to name both familiar and new concepts. Notably, the life cycle diagrams at the end of each volume provide a review of how each item changes in nature and their use in everyday life. Readers benefit from full-page photographs, simple sentence structure, repetition, and comprehension questions, as well as labeled diagrams and picture glossaries for vocabulary review. Imagery is easy to identify and is evenly interspersed with straightforward text and labeling, making these books perfect for a kindergarten audience. Pictures show enough detail to enthrall preschoolers, while slightly more complex text will engage advancing readers. VERDICT A quality addition to any Spanish life sciences collection.
