ReviewedBy speaking boldly, Abraham Lincoln earned the nickname “Honest Abe.” Young readers will learn how Abraham Lincoln used honesty to lead a country divided over slavery.
These biographies for newly independent readers focus on each subject's contribution to making the world a better place. King's struggle for equality, Jefferson's fight for freedom, Kennedy's establishment of the Peace Corps and insistence on good citizenship, and Mother Teresa's charity work are all discussed. The writing, offered in large font, is clear without being stilted. Softly colored illustrations fill many of the pages and are of average quality. Acceptable additions to most libraries.
