ReviewedAva DuVernay is an award-winning director! This impressive woman surpassed critics and found success in the movie business. This engaging title incorporates factual text, a profile, timeline and more that highlight Ava’s powerful presence in the film industry!
'This is an excellent biography series, and the women leaders are a great group to showcase for girls as they grow and learn to have confidence in themselves and their abilities. One feature I really like is on the page about where the women are from, it provides a map of the entire United States with the state they’re from colored and pointed at. This, along with a compass, help students understand location in relation to where they live. The quotes, profile information box page, and timeline box page are also great features for teaching students different ways to present facts. The disbursement of these features also helps break up the pages with regular sentence text to keep readers more engaged at this age.', Angie Nagle, Underwood Public School, Underwood, ND
