Boing! Boing! Boing! If you disturb a piece of seaweed on the beach, you might get to see dozens of tiny creatures leaping into the air—beach fleas! Peek under a piece of driftwood and you might spot a beach wolf spider waiting for a chance to hunt. And what’s that little dip in the sand? It’s a cunning trap excavated by a hungry antlion to catch its next meal. Filled with information perfectly suited to the abilities and interests of its primary-grade audience, this colorful, fact-filled book gives readers a chance not only to learn all about tiny beach creatures and their seashore habitat, but also develop their powers of observation and critical thinking. Children will investigate, for example, how sea slaters help keep beaches clean, and what an antlion does with its prey’s body once it has sucked it dry. Get ready for a fun and interesting day at the beach!Beach Fleas and Other Tiny Sand Animalsis part of Bearport’s A Day at the Beach series.
